Special Learning, Inc. Announces New Spanish ABA Online Training Program

A suite of new Spanish digital products will also be available for use

CHICAGO, IL - August 26, 2016 - Special Learning, Inc., the leading global provider in digital training and educational solutions to the autism and other special needs communities, today announced a series of new Spanish language products which further its dedication to providing high-quality, applied behavior analysis (ABA) courses and content. New products include the Level 1 ABA Online Training Course in Spanish, in additional to several Spanish-translated digital reads and social stories for course enrichment.

Solving a Major Global Problem

There are approximately 74 million people with autism in the world, using a conservative prevalence-rate of 1 in 100. Sadly, less than 10% of the world’s population with autism have access to a life-changing intervention known as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). ABA is an evidenced-based intervention that has demonstrated with early and intensive application to generate a 47% success rate helping children with autism to mainstream. Furthermore, ABA can help over 90% of people on the autism spectrum achieve some level of independence. However, there is currently a shortage of certified ABA experts, called Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBAs), with only 23,000 worldwide (and most within the U.S.). As a result of the extreme scarcity of ABA experts to treat and supervise intervention programs, ABA therapy is currently only accessible in about twenty countries.

The universal challenge then is twofold: 1) ABA programs consume a significant amount of time and resources to implement. Typically, ABA therapy is about 35 hours per week. 2) Correspondingly, ABA is very expensive with costs ranging from $75,000 –- $125,000 annually. Even if a portion of ABA therapy is covered by insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are still substantial.

The Special Learning Solution

The newest edition of Spanish-language products is the first non-English version of the Special Learning courses available, with more languages to follow.

Special Learning has spent the last 6 years developing, designing, testing, refining and now implementing the best and most cost-effective means access ABA.

Special Learning’s flexible learning platform makes ABA training, education and virtual consultation or supervision accessible to those estimated 200 million individuals who provide intervention, direct care and support to those with autism. This tech-based delivery method fosters connected access to ABA experts to anyone with an internet connection anywhere in the world! Special Learning has partnered with clients in 84 countries using their global perspective to create multi-language culturally appropriate products and services.

For Clinicians, Educators, and Even Parents

The beauty of Special Learning courses is that once trained anyone can be certified to work with individuals with autism. Experts (BCBAs), Intervention clinicians (implementers), Educators, Parents and other professionals such as speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and nurses can become ABA practitioners. This means that parents can now become their child’s therapist.

“We are so excited to be able to offer our first non-English program to the Special Learning product line. Our goal is to make ABA training accessible to everyone, everywhere without limitations. This is just the first step in our commitment to expanding Special Learning’s offerings to the rest of autistic global community,” said Karen Chung, CEO at Special Learning, Inc.
