The webcast provides information about effective service delivery systems for children and adolescents with a diagnosis of ASD and their families, across a diverse range of backgrounds. It is inclusive information for all young people with ASD, regardless of gender, race, culture, ethnicity and economic status. “Autism is quickly becoming an epidemic throughout the United States and across the globe and to counter its prevalence, we need to continue developing solutions to curb its affects,” said LaMarche. “We also need to seek evidence-based research outcomes that provide long-term solutions to ensure our children achieve quality lives.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, autism affects one in 88 children in the United States alone and is quickly becoming one of the most prevalent disorders affecting children. With estimated growth rates of between 10 percent to 17 percent annually, autism is reaching epidemic proportions.
